A birthing story
Carrying a baby in her womb for 9 months was really amazing. She had mixed feelings, emotions and everything. Sometimes she’s sad, the next thing happy and vise versa. When her due date was fast approaching, she was afraid. Afraid whether she can deliver her baby successfully or not. Afraid if her baby will be cord coil for she was always watching tv and the topics were mothers who gave birth in a hard way.
It was dawn, she woke up because she need to go to the bathroom. She was wondering why there’s a liquid that dripped down very fast. She was not feeling comfortable. She came to think that her bag of water broke. It’s then, she woke up my husband to drive her to the hospital. It’s not that painful because it’s water that comes out and not blood(as what her old folks say). She just walked from the entrance of the emergency room to the second floor of the hospital where the labor room was located. She checked in it at the counter and still she can write anything on the registration paper. Until the nurse asked her to get inside the small room where she got her pad so the nurse can check it if she’s really in labor. She waited again outside for minutes. Then the nurse came out and accompany her to the labor room. Everything’s fancy in there with all of the necessary apparatus for emergency use. Until the time came that she was very uncomfortable. She kept on going in and out of the bathroom to urinate. Then, there’s a nurse that inspected her dilation. She was only 1cm when her bag of water broke so they were afraid of her baby’s condition. The nurse asked her if she will go for natural birth. She said yes. Since she was only 1cm, the doctor decided to inject pitussin to help the regular contraction of her baby. It’s then that she was shouting from the pain of every contraction. So the nurse asked her again if she needs some pain reliever. That’s the time she said yes. Morning came and she was still shouting for pain. Until the time came when the nurse inspected her dilation, it’s then that she’s fully dilated. The nurse guided her in everything on how to deliver her baby. The nurse called the doctor and other nurses to assist. When they said that the head of her baby was visible, and that if she wanted to touch it, she said no because she’s afraid she may poke the head. Then her baby was out and they were on the rush in cutting the cord and clean her baby. Until they put her baby on her chest so that she can see him. She was crying then. Tears of joy. She can’t believe that her baby is very handsome and very cute. After the nurse cleaned her baby thoroughly, she was being transported to her room. But before that, she brought her baby in the nursery.
After seeing her baby, all the things she experienced in carrying him for 9 months and all the pains she had in delivering him successfully were gone. And she thank God for the successful labor she had. She was just in pain for 6-7 hours and to think it’s her first pregnancy. Of course, she’s thankful for her husband for supporting her althroughout. Even if he was shaking because he was afraid but still he stayed inside the room. And he said, their baby smiled at him the first time he held him in his arms.
This is the unforgettable experience of a very happy mother. And she will treasure it forever. By having a baby, she can now understand how important parents are in the life of a child.
