I can remember during the time when I was still a working scholar student in my beloved school, there were different flower bouquets, offerings, and gifts for the priest that I worked with. These things were from his avid supporters. But then, when this chaplain was having a surgery, there was an OIC for several months in which he’s longing to receive different gifts from all. But he complained a lot when the chaplain was back because there were lots and lots of gifts waiting at the office. And the OIC said, “Why can’t people give me even just one gift while I am still here?” So, the secretary said to him this short joke, “Father, the friends of the chaplain are alive mostly those who will request him to have masses. But with you, they are all on the other side of the world”. With that, everybody had a good laugh!
